At last.. back Fishing

At last back out fishing in the little Atomix... Was a fantastic day on Saturday with not much wind.

My aim was to get out and find a school of Kahawai as I have a nice light weight spin/fly rod with a salt water fly reel. Went out to my spot about 3.5 miles out... a school of Kahawai did pop up for a short time but went down just as quick.. Bummer!  plenty out at Motti way and Penguin BUT just too far with this boat.

I hung around the reef and did a bit a jigging...  Was a good day with 4 rat Kings caught with Denise catching one of them.. lots of fun!  Just need to sort out a live bait bucket and target some Big ones as they will be there.

Atomix Boat 420 Fishing

Great day out fishing today as was a break in the wind.. been windy as the last few weeks. Got out again to my friend Mark's spot. Great spot.. caught Snapper and Tarakihi but only around 35 cm. Thought I was about to land a 20 pound snapper as had a real good fight with one fish... Turned out to be a eel but was 8 feet long.. it was huge!.. Let it go again to grab someone else's line!. Had a few small kingi's show up for a short time... Was nice to eat some fresh fish tonight and look forward to going back out. Very happy with the boat.. Rides so well.

Atomix Boat 420

Was a fantastic day on Saturday.. No wind and flat seas so a great time to get out and check out a couple of reefs a bit closer. From having bigger boats and fishing out Motti Island way.. time was spent checking out some spots with the GPS and Sounder at 2 mile reef and a couple of good spots a little further out. Still impressed the boat.. 30 mile an hour top speed  Cruise at about 20 mile an hour. 3 hours crusing along with some trolling used about 9 liters of fuel!. The day was more about checking out spots but did get a bit of jigging in.. Caught just a big barra and a rock cod.. but at least the boat catches fish!. Did not see one bird!! or school of fish... Where are the Kahawia!!!

Atomix Boat 420

Wow been a very long time since I logged into the blog!...  Hope to once again start it up. Last week started a new role with EmployNZ as a Programme Manager getting people into work. As per the photos.. last week also brought a new boat.. an Atomix 420.. Just 6 hours on the clock.. Took it out for the first time today.. it handles really well for a small boat.. was a windy day but went out the entrance anyway to see how it handled. It handled it very well in the big seas!.  Looking forward to posting plenty of photos as we get ready for summer!
