Went out to a friends cocktail party last night with a Hollywood theme so we got dressed up and went as Fred and Ginger...
I was dressed up in my best black suit and Denise in her new black dress.

I have worked as the Operations Coordinator/Team Leader for three different computer courses that have taken place at the Polytechnic, community venues and at many local business premises. Several thousand people have enrolled into these courses which unfortunately were made redundant along with myself at the end of December/early January due to cuts in government funding

Went out for a big walk this morning....Fantastic day walking across the bridge looking at the container wharf and boats. Came across an old iron gate full of old cobwebs... something different.

Was great to get out on the water again.. it's been a while. Went out on a friends cat and headed out past A buoy for a snapper fish. I love heading out to sea and checking out the Mount from a different angle.
The weather was a bit dull and drizzly out there, but still was a fantastic day. Caught our limit of 9 snapper each plus a few other fish....lots of Kingfish swimming around the boat and hassling the snapper as the came up to the boat. Saw a good size flying fish as it lept out of the water and 'flew' across the swells. Pretty impresvie to watch.

Applied for a few more jobs so now just waiting for that call! :-)

Lake Tarawera

Had a fantastic time at Rotorua yesterday/today as we celebrated Denise's b-day!
Went for a drive out to Lake Tarawera... to the landing and what a great spot! went for a walk for a few min around the lake edge, lay in the sun and went for a swim... Water still a bit chilly :-) but once you are in was really nice. Along the edge of the lake were lots of blackberrys.. YUM!.... going to have to go back here before summer finishes....

Well time is sure flying by!

After coming back from Taupo on the 10th Jan I have spent Mon to Fri working on the house... gardens, painting the ceilings, painting the play room, waterblasting the house, getting quotes for the new fit-out.....
If the rain stops!!! next week I will be building a nice rock garden/waterfall and a 2.5mtr bridge for the Japanese garden I am creating.. I have applied for a great job.. so are now waiting to hear back...

Wow.. that didn't take long!.. 2011 is now here. Talk about being real slack on my blog last year!.. My new years res is to get back into it.. get back into taking some photos.

Sooo... 2011 will bring a big change in my life.. after 7 years working at the Polytechnic, myself and my team have been made redundent due to cuts in goverment funding, so as of right now I am looking for a new job.

I am also right in the middle of doing up my house.. new carpets, wallpaper, kitchen, bathrooms, deck, and gardens so will be putting most of this on hold for now untill I get a new job!

Took Bella and Denise & girls to the zoo on the weekend.. Lots of fun though Bella didn't like any of the animals at all!!

I enjoyed the Tiger and love the Monkeys. Was great to see the sun for a change! :-)

Was a great weekend in that we had a nice family Mid-Winter (late) Christmas dinner complete with jam and cheese samies!.. This morning it wasn't raining!!!!! so I went for a walk down at the Marina.. Still very cold.. I can't wait for summer as have had enough of the cold.. hhhmmm I must be getting old maybe?

I really love this photo of the reflections in the pool of the hotel I stayed at in Auckland on Thursday. Was there last week and again this week for some meetings. Went for a swim on the 4th floor and decided this would make a great photo so went back to my room and grabed my camera.

Was a great evening as ended up singing karaoke in a Queen St bar.. my two fav songs! lol Proud Mary and Bad Habits.. later that night... lots of fun and sung well out of tune! :-)

Tauranga Jazz Fest

I spent the weekend at the Jazz Fest in town and at the 17th ave Village.. lots of fun.. great music. Enjoyed going to the Village on Sunday.. was a nice relaxing time. Took my camera along today and got a few good shots.. I like this B & W of a Jazz band playing on the verandera of a very old-style house

Took this a few weeks ago. I have a swan plant and had quite a few of these on it and then spining their cocoons and hatching... as of late my smaller catapillas have gone missing.. I think the praying mantis is back!!!... will have to hunt him down and take a photo before I move it along! :-).. I have seen them eat the 'pillas before on the plants.

Was a great weekend..

Took some pictures of the hydroplane boats racing in Tauranga.. Some photos of some art work for a friend for a catalog as well. Enjoy taking on a challange.

Went to my first ceroc dance party!.. hhmmm I now know what other people feel like when they come to tango as I was out of my depth a bit! :-)..and a real newbie! Such a different dance than salsa and Tango but great fun..

Argentine Tango Tauranga Free Lessons

Started again this year giving basic Argentine Tango free lessons at the Merhaba Restaurant on the Strand in Tauranga.
A fantastic group of people come along each week to Monday night tango at 7pm. We all get along great.. have plenty of fun dancing.. to me that's what it's all about, having lots of fun and meeting and dancing and introducing tango to others that come along.

Going to have to bring my camera along one day soon for some photos!

Was down at Ferguson Park on Saturday late afternoon watching Chloe and Lee launch their boat they have just brought and got a few photos of some Kite-Surfers down at the park. Sunday was spent watching the Christmas Parade at the Mount then climbed the Mount afterwards. Was a guy setting up and launching his Para-Glider.. was great to watch as once the canopy filled with air and a bit of wind.. he was off! just about took out a few people watching standing too close as he raced skywards.

Another great weekend here in sunny Tauranga (well a bit of wind and a little cooler than it should be! :-) ) Went down to the model boat racing in Tauranga on Saturday and got a few good pictures.. some of these boats can travel at 100km's so are pretty quick. The bottom photo was taken in March 2008 in the same spot with 'real' boat racing.

Was a fantastic day this Fathers day as Emily, Mike and kids along with Brad joined about 20.000 people to walk across the new bridge. The fly-over is not yet complete just the new bridge has been opened.. the old one will have some repairs and then in a few months time the new road with both bridges will be opened

Nice to see a fine day, no wind for a change this weekend. Went to the animal park here in Tauranga with the kids.. Lots of fun feeding the many rabbits, goats,, pigs, pony's, deer. Even braved to hold out my hand with some feed for a Emu to pick at it and my hand!.

We then went on the flying fox for a few turns and Brad jumped up on a pipe and showed off his balancing skills! Photo caught him just loosing his balance!

Was a great weekend.. time spent with my son Brad over at the Mount beach on Sunday and got to hear about and then walk on the new harbor bridge and see/hear how it was made.

I havent been out of Tauranga for a while.. was planning to go this week some where but I start a new role/project with my work for the next 6 weeks as a Business Adviser in a Recession Recovery programme. Once this is up and running will be going away for a week as I sure could use the break.

I was out this weekend at Fergerson Park just down the road from where I live. The water was soo nice.. would have been great to get out fishing.

Has been a fantastic sunny weekend here in Tauranga for the Jazz Festival over the Sat/Sun/Mon both in town and the 17th Ave Village. Plenty of great music with my fav band 'Shaken not Stired' playing late in the afternoons.

It's 2009!.. quite hard to beliv really.. I have been really slack on here so this year will get back into it again... spend some weekends out and about and take some photos...

We had some boat racing here in Tauranga on the water front... These boats are pretty impressive as they race past at 160 mile an hour.. I got plenty of great shots but I really love these couple of photos of one boat gliding into shore after shutting down the motor and the other racing along past me

Has been such a great weekend weather wise here in Tauranga. I took Brad into town and we watched the Kart racing through the city streets - some of the carts reaching up to 130km.

Made a great Tango movie and put it on youtube this week! and one day soon will have to set up my camera on timer and get a nice photo of a Tango dance pose!

...Has been a nice relaxing week this week. I have had the week off and just as well as needed to recover from all that dancing I did in the weekend!

I dont think my body can keep up with 3 nights in a row dancing ! hhhmmmm I might be showing my age here!!... :-) Just too much salsa I guess and not enough Tango.

Went for plenty of walks this week and went over to Rotorua for the day. Finding it a challange to go to places I been in the past and take new photos. I guess it's trying to find a different angle each time

Went to Rotorua with my Bro and his daughter to go to the lion and trout park. Had some great bush walks - plenty of large trout and animals.

The lions were pretty cool to see and you were able to get about 6 inches away from them!

Had a great weekend of dance over the last 2 days. We held a Milonga here in Tauranga with 30 odd people dancing at one the bars in town. I teach some beginners Tango on Sundays and on the Saturday night we had some dancers from Auckland come down to join us and even a couple from the USA in New Zealand tanking Tango workshops came and joined us!

Well I finally got out for a fish with a mate on the weekend at Thames. The weather wasnt the best in that it was pretty grey and windy!! which made for a rough ride, but we did catch quite a few kawiahi and 14 snapper ....

I have never fished up at Thames before so was interesting fishing among the mussel bouys and harvest boat. Despite the rough weather was a fantastic day on the water and hope to go back next month for a few days.

I have never known it to rain so much here in Sunny Tauranga. Off to dance later today as I have started teaching some Argintine Tango in town on Sundays. Lots of fun!
Just spending the day with Brad listening to some music on the new stereo I brought on Saturday - Queen & Mariah Carey. Looking forward to taking some photos next weekend :-)

Hey the rain is over!.. well maybe :-)

So nice to have a fine saturday and a chance to get into my garden - pull a few weeds and tidy up the section.

Hope to be fishing next week...or if not, are planning a day trip out of Tauranga so will have a few photos to post.

Nice to see Chloe and Sarah-Jane who came around to visit today.

Was a busy week at work.. Tried to get a few photos for a new brochure in our computer classroom.. the morning shots didn't turn out that flash at all! so orginised some more students in the afternoon and hopefully the photo will be used. I enjoy taking the photos as I have done in the past for other brochures

Fantastic to see the sun today :-). Brad had a rep game today so took my camera along for a couple of shots. I love this shot as catches him leaping up to head the ball.

Has been a quiet weekend, just soccer on Saturday and Sunday.. Off to tango shortly for some dancing..aalways lots of fun.
